James’ 30th — A Pub Function Room That Didn’t Stay Quiet For Long
James celebrated his 30th with friends and family in a Staffordshire pub function room, with the idea being to keep things relaxed while everyone arrived before gradually turning the room into a proper birthday party. The music moved between familiar favourites, throwbacks and more energetic tracks as the evening developed, with the dancefloor building naturally rather than being pushed too early.
“Carl was brilliant for James’ 30th. He completely understood the kind of party we wanted and made the whole thing really easy from the start. People had time to chat and have a drink early on, but once the music started building the function room completely changed.
His choice of music was spot on and he seemed to know exactly what the room needed next. There were different ages there, but somehow he managed to keep everyone involved and the dancefloor got busier and busier as the night went on.
We should probably apologise to James because we haven’t even used a photo of him here! Matt was having such a brilliant time to one of the tracks Carl dropped that we couldn’t resist using that photo instead — I absolutely love it. I think it sums the night up better than anything we could say.
Carl was professional, friendly, great behind the decks and played a huge part in making James’ 30th such a good night. We had loads of people commenting on the music afterwards. We’d happily recommend him.”
Danielle’s 25th — A Birthday At Home That Definitely Didn’t Feel Like A Quiet Night In
Danielle celebrated her 25th birthday at a private residence in Staffordshire, bringing friends and family together for a much more personal kind of party. The music needed to suit Danielle and her friends first, while still giving the wider family plenty to enjoy. With no formal function-room timetable to follow, the evening could develop naturally — starting socially before the music, energy and dancing gradually took over.
“Carl was brilliant for Danielle’s 25th. We had the party at home and just wanted everyone to relax, have a few drinks and enjoy themselves without it feeling too organised or formal. Carl fitted into that perfectly.
Danielle had given him an idea of the sort of music she liked and he absolutely got it. She loved the tunes all night — and if you look at the photo of her, I think you can probably tell! She barely stopped dancing once the party properly got going.
What I liked was that Carl didn’t just play music for Danielle and her mates and forget about everyone else. There were quite a few different ages there and he somehow kept everyone involved. One minute the younger ones were going mad to something they knew, then he’d drop a track that had the rest of us joining them.
By the end of the night the house definitely wasn’t as tidy as it was at the beginning, but I suppose that’s the sign of a good 25th! Danielle had a fantastic night, her friends loved the music and Carl made the whole thing really easy. Top bloke, great DJ and we’d happily have him back.”

Imani’s 30th birthday was celebrated at a private residence in Staffordshire, giving the whole night a more personal and relaxed feel from the start. Friends and family were together in one space, so the music needed to begin with the right social atmosphere before building into something much more lively as the evening moved on. The result was a birthday that felt comfortable early on, then properly came to life once the dancing started.
“Carl was honestly brilliant for Imani’s 30th. We wanted the night to feel fun and personal rather than stiff or overdone, and he got that straight away.
The music was spot on all night. He judged everything really well and seemed to know exactly when to keep things relaxed and when to lift the energy. Once people got on the dancefloor, that was pretty much it — they stayed there.
Imani absolutely loved it. The music suited her so well and you could tell from the atmosphere in the room that everyone was enjoying themselves. Even people who were only meant to be having ‘one or two’ ended up fully in the party mode by the end of the night.
Carl was friendly, easy to deal with and just made the whole evening feel easy. He played a huge part in making my sister’s 30th feel special, and we had loads of comments afterwards about how good the DJ was. I’d 100% recommend him.”
